In 2004 much of the savanah was under repair as the drainage system was being replaced. During the renovation period, green tarps covered the construction areas to keep the animals out.
 
The attraction originally included a cast member at the scene where the poachers are captured. This cast member played the part of a reserve warden who gave the good news that little Red was saved. The role was elimated several years ago.
