This area of the park was originally called Conservation Station. During the Millenium Celebration the name was changed to Rafiki's Planet Watch as a tribute to the mystical baboon from The Lion King, who seemed to have a sixth sense about the circle of life and understood that necessity of respecting the natural order of things (a very appropriate philosophy for this area of the Animal Kingdom!).
