Opened:
May 1, 1989 (Original attraction)
Origins:

The original Animation Tour began with a short film starring Robin Williams,
who received a lesson in animation from none other than Walter Cronkite. During the film, an animated Robin took part in a thrilling animated sequence that landed him on Captain Hook's pirate ship as one of the Lost Boys. At the conclusion of the film, guests sat with a Disney animator who drew a
character or two and answered questions. From there, guests got to tour the actual animation studios, where they could see Disney artists working on future projects. Finally, a second film was shown that showcased some of the
finest moments in Disney animation.

Updates: Due to the closing of the animation studios (the entire animation process
was relocated to Disney's California studios), the Magic of Disney underwent
a (necessary) extensive renovation, reopening in November 2003. Even though guests can no longer see
actual animators at work, they are now able to try their own hand at
animation at the Animation Academy, with expert instruction from an actual
Disney artist!
