The Rock 'n' Roller Coaster joined the Tower
of Terror in 1999 to become the
second major thrill ride to debut at the
Disney's Hollywood Studios, and is now one
of the top thrill rides in all of Walt Disney
World (to date it is the only
attraction at Walt Disney World to feature
inversions).
Rock legends Aerosmith worked with Disney
Imagineers to produce a special soundtrack
for the Rock
'n' Roller coaster (featuring five different
songs). During development, the problem of
synchronization was resolved by utilizing
computerized 3D mockups of the ride.
On July 29, 1999, the ride officially opened
with a special, invitation-only
party, with Aerosmith as the guests of honor.
Winners of a local radio
contest got a special limousine escort to
the park. After an all-you-can-eat
buffet, the lucky guests got the chance to
ride the Rock 'n' Roller Coaster
with one of the members of Aerosmith!. |
