Tower of Terror

Opened:
July 22, 1994
Origins:

When the Tower of Terror opened, it was the without a doubt the biggest and
scariest thrill ride to appear at the Walt Disney World Resort (the Rock 'n'
Roller Coaster, Mission: Space and the newly opened Expedition Everest have
since challenged the Tower of Terror for that distinction).

The theming of the attraction was inspired by the classic TV series "The
Twilight Zone" starring Rod Serling (guests actually see a short clip of Rod
Serling describing the events that took place at the hotel as they make
their way through the hotel lobby).

Updates: In the years since the attraction's initial opening, a randomized pattern of
drops and lifts have been added, with the vehicle making an unpredictable
number of drops with varying distances.
