| In 1989,
the Wonders of Life pavilion opened between
the
Universe of Energy and Horizons. The 100,000
square foot golden geodesic dome contained
a variety of exhibits that dealt with health
related themes. Fitness Fairgrounds provided
guests with a number of interactive exhibits
designed to improve one's health and fitness.
Guests could ride a stationery bike through
a virtual environment (such as the Tournament
of Roses parade and even Disneyland), get
an analysis of their golf, tennis or baseball
swing, and participate in a variety of
fun-filled exhibits focusing on the senses
of sight,
tough and hearing.
The pavilion also featured a number of
short shows. "Goofy About Health" tells
the story
of how Goofy transformed from a slob to
a super-goof. "The Making of Me" starred
Martin
Short in a funny but sensitive portrayal
of conception and birth. "Cranium Command"
took you inside the mind of a 12 year old
boy in a humorous, special-effects filled
adventure.
The main attraction at the Wonders of Life
pavilion was Body Wars, a simulator ride
that took guests on a thrilling journey
through the human body.
On January 25, 2004, the Wonders of Life
went to a reduced seasonal schedule, opening
only during peak periods. The pavilion
has not been open at all in recent months
and will likely be closing permanently
in the near future.
