Test Track was
the first thrill ride built in Epcot (discounting
the mild thrills of Maelstrom in the Norway
pavilion of World Showcase). The attraction
went through a long development process, with
many delays resulting from changes to the ride
made in light of some performance issues
revealed during testing. A few opening dates
were announced but then missed (including May
1997 and August 1998), but after several years
of waiting Test Track finally opened to an
eagerly anticipating public who soon made it
one of
the most popular
attractions in all of Walt Disney World. |

Test Track replaced
the World of Motion, a slow moving ride similar
to Spaceship Earth that took guests on a visual
tour of the history of transportation. |
