The landscaping
surrounding the Land pavilion is designed
to create a visual representation of the
land and earth. The trees at the top of the
berm have white blooms to represent clouds,
while the areas on either side of the pavilion
are planted in rows to symbolize the natural
riches of the land. The mosaics on the walls
leading to the pavilion entrance are designed
to mimic a cutaway view of the interior layers
of the earth.
The leapfrog
fountains outside the Imagination pavilion
make use of a technology called Laminar Flow.
Water pressure and the direction of the tubing
in the fountains are carefully synchronized
to create the illusion of a single splash
of water leaping about the various fountains.
The World Fellowship
Fountain was dedicated during the opening
festivities of the park by Lillian Disney,
Walt's widow. Representatives from 23 nations
brought water from their native homelands
to feed the fountain, creating a symbolic
gathering point for the world community.
