Origins: The success of the Disney films Honey, I Shrunk the Kids and its sequel, Honey, I Blew Up the Kid, led to the development of this fun filled 3D presentation.
Formerly: Originally, the theater was known as the Magic Eye Theater and presented a film called Magic Journeys which utilized an innovative 65mm 3D process developed jointly by WED Enterprises and Eastman Kodak. The film was an imaginative view of the world through a child's eyes, making extensive use of spectacular 3D effects.

Magic Journeys closed on February 9, 1986 and reopened in Fantasyland in the Magic Kingdom on December 15, 1987. After several years, Magic Journeys finally closed its doors for good on December 1, 1993 to make way for the Legend of the Lion King theater show.

On September 12, 1986, a new film, Captain EO, made its debut. The film, which was produced by George Lucas and directed by Francis Ford Coppola, starred Michael Jackson and Angelica Huston in a music filled science fiction adventure.
