Opened:
October 1, 1982 (Original Attraction)
Origins: The Imagination pavilion was one of the original pavilions at EPCOT, and its gleaming glass pyramids and fanciful water features have graced Future World ever since opening day, despite the changes that have taken place inside.
Updates: In 1998, the original Journey Into Imagination closed for an extensive rehab, reopening in 1999. Notable changes included the closing of Image Works, a new exterior, and a reduction in size of the leaping fountains to accommodate the new gift shop.

However, the most drastic changes were reserved for the ride itself (now called Journey Into Your Imagination). The Dreamfinder was gone and Figment's role was vastly reduced. In their place was Eric Idle as Dr. Niles Channing (from Honey I Shrunk the Audience), taking guests on a tour through the Imagination Institute. While not without its charms, fans of the original attraction made it clear that Figment was sorely missed.

Consequently, in 2001 the attraction was once again closed for renovations. On June 2nd 2002, Journey Into Imagination reopened with Figment returning in a much larger role. The original theme song One Little Spark also returned, now sung as a duet by Figment and Dr. Channing.
