Origins: The Living Seas was one of the last of the original Future World pavilions to open (along with Wonders of Life and Horizons, both of which have since closed). At the time it was the largest man-made underwater exhibit in the world (it has since been surpassed in size by the Georgia Aquarium).
Updates: In 2003, elements of the Disney/Pixar hit film Finding Nemo began to be introduced to the pavilion. During this time the ride portion of the attraction was removed, requiring guests to make their way to SeaBase Alpha on foot.

In 2005, The Living Seas closed for extensive renovations, during which time the new Finding Nemo attractions were added. During the rehab the hydrolators and introductory film were removed. The pavilion soon partially reopened, with the temporary entrance located at the former exit (the entryway is still undergoing renovations).

The remainder of the pavilion was finally reopened in 2006, and along with the addition of Nemo came a new name—The Seas with Nemo and Friends.
