Opened:
October 1, 1982 (Original Pavilion)
Origins: The American Adventure was one of the nine original World Showcase pavilions, opening in 1982 with the rest of EPCOT.
Updates: The pavilion was renamed the United States Pavilion in the early 1990s, but went back to its original name, the American Adventure, in 2005.

In 1993, the show was renovated to include updated Audio-Animatronics figures, re-recorded audio tracks and an inspirational new ending ("Golden Dreams") which added events from 1945 through the present.

In mid-2007, about 45 seconds of footage were added to the end of the Golden Dreams montage. Selecting which events and icons to use proved to be a tough assignment for the Imagineers. To get a fresh perspective, the Imagineering team contacted a noted historian from George Washington University, who recruited 13 graduate students from his American History department for a semester-long assignment to help with the updating of the film. New additions include Michelle Kwan, Tiger Woods, the firefighters who raised the flag at the World Trade Center's ground zero, Muhammad Ali carrying a torch at the 1996 Olympics, and former Presidents George H.W. Bush and Bill Clinton working together on tsunami relief.
