The centerpiece
of the Morocco pavilion is a replica of the
Koutoubia Minaret prayer tower, originally
built as part of a 12th century mosque in
Marrakesh.
Because of the
religious significance of the buildings,
Morocco is the only pavilion not lit up during
the Illuminations fireworks and laser show.
This is the most
elaborately detailed land in all of World
Showcase. The King of Morocco actually sent
a group of 19 maalems (royal artisans) to
create the extensive mosaic artwork!
