The Country Bear Jamboree
has its roots in, of all places, a northwestern
ski resort. Or at least the original concepts
for
one.
You see, Mineral King, California was the
home of a proposed ski resort that Walt Disney
hoped to build. The Country Bear
Jamboree was conceived of as an attraction for
the resort, developed in large part by Imagineer
Marc Davis (based on an original concept of Walt's).
Sadly, plans for the resort fell through, but the
Country Bear Jamboree was felt to be such a good
idea that it was incorporated into the opening
day plans for the Magic Kingdom. |
| Updates: |
1984 saw the
debut of
The Country Bear Christmas Special, which has since
played during every holiday season.
This proved so popular that a summer-time follow
up, The Country Bear Vacation Hoedown, was introduced
in
1986. |
