Harper's Mill is named after Harper Goff, best remembered as the driving artistic force behind 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. He also developed many of the early renderings and concept art pieces for Walt Disney's "Mickey Mouse Park" (which eventually evolved into Disneyland).

In an interesting coincidence, Mark Twain grew up in Hannibal, Missouri, just a mere 90 miles away from Marceline, the town were Walt Disney spent much of his youth (Marceline provided Walt with the inspiration for Main Street).
