| Origins: |
This attraction,
which opened several years after the Magic Kingdom
opened its doors, was originally named the StarJets.
Though the ride itself was similar to the current
incarnation, the design was vastly different.
In celebration of man's recent lunar landing
which captured the imagination of the world,
the StarJets circled a central pylon styled after
the Saturn
V, the rocket that took the
astronauts to the moon. |
| Updates: |
In 1994, as part
of the major redesign of Tomorrowland, the StarJets
were totally refurbished to take on a more nostalgic,
kinetic feel. In addition to the design change,
the attraction received a new name: the Astro
Orbiter. |
