| Origins: |
In celebration
of Mickey Mouse's 60th birthday, Mickey's Birthdayland
was built right next to Fantasyland. Original
attractions included Mickey's
House, the Birthday Party Tent,
Minnie's
Surprise Party, and Grandma Duck's Farm. |
| Updates: |
After the celebration
was completed, Mickey's Birthdayland proved
so popular that it was quickly renamed Mickey's
Starland and became a permanent fixture at
the Magic Kingdom.
In 1996, the entire area was updated (with Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck and Goofy
joining in on the fun) and given its current name, Mickey's Toontown Fair. |
| Closure: |
Mickey's Toontown Fair permanently closed in February of 2011 to make way for the Fantasyland expansion. All of the attractions were closed, though the Barnstormer will be refurbished to be part of the new Fantasyland. The coaster will be rethemed slightly and will feature Goofy as The Great Goofini. |
