| The Wilderness Lodge is the
most rustic of all the Walt Disney World
resorts, recreating the grandeur and majesty
of the rugged mountain lodges of the Pacific
Northwest. Tucked away on the
shores of Bay Lake, the Wilderness Lodge
is a giant timber-framed resort featuring
breathtaking landscapes and a spectacular
pool (complete with an actual geyser!). |
| • |
The
Wilderness Lodge lobby has the highest "wow"
factor of any of the Disney resorts. The
jaw-dropping 8-story, timber-frame lobby
features towering totem poles, massive western-themed
chandeliers and a spectacular 82-foot tall
stone fireplace. Breathtaking!! |
| • |
You'll find
a variety of nature trails winding in and
out of the surrounding forest (including
a path leading all the way to the neighboring
Fort Wilderness Campground), perfect for
hiking or biking. |
| • |
The Wilderness
Lodge is filled with a number of cozy, private
sitting areas. A walk along any of the balconies
overlooking the lobby will lead you to one
of the many small fireplaces with
intimate seating; perfect for reading, chatting,
or just curling up in front of the crackling
flames. |
| • |
The pathway leading
to the boat dock can be a wonderfully magical
place, particularly early in the morning
with a gentle fog hovering over Bay Lake. |
| The Wilderness Lodge features
variety of guest rooms, concierge rooms
and suites scattered throughout the main
building and the two large wings. You can
choose a room that overlooks the grand lobby,
one that looks out over the beautifully themed
pool area, or a quieter room with a view
of the surrounding forest. |
Magic
Kingdom
Launch boats depart from the dock
for the Magic Kingdom throughout the day.
You can also take a launch boat to the Contemporary
Resort, and from there board the monorail
(or walk) to the Magic Kingdom. Bus transportation
is also available to the Magic Kingdom. |
Epcot
Bus
For the more adventurous, try taking the
launch boat to the Contemporary Resort and
boarding the monorail to the Ticket and Transpiration
Center. From there you can take the monorail
to Epcot (the trip is much longer but if
you're not in a particular hurry it can be
quite enjoyable, especially if you like riding
the monorail). |

Other
Destinations
Buses provide transportation to the
water parks and Downtown Disney. You can take
a launch boat to the Contemporary Hotel (transferring
to the monorail for the Polynesian and Grand
Floridian resorts) and also to the Fort Wilderness
Campgrounds. |
